Led by the Spirit to Praise and Serve: Comfort Food Ministry
On the heals of the extraordinary success of the 2010-2011 Comfort Food Ministry Program, St. James is proud to announce an expansion of the program for the next programming year. Because of a generous grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the program will serve even more!
Comfort Food Ministry serves members and non-members through Wednesday night community gatherings and frozen meals available to all. From September 2010 – May 2011, 3,869 meals were served on Wednesday nights and 1,200 meals were placed in the freezer in the church’s narthex for members and nonmembers to take.
With the help of this generous $5,000 grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, the Comfort Food Ministry will be expanded. We will be able to provide more than 4,000 paid Wednesday night meals and 3,000 unpaid freezer meals during the 2011-2012 programming year! The St. James mission, Led by the Spirit to praise and serve, is alive through the Comfort Food Ministry.
