Advent Worship 2017
Wait for the Lord;
Wait for the Lord, whose Day is near
Wait for the Lord, Be strong, take heart!
So goes the chant from the Christian community of Taize. It is a cry that comes from the depths of our souls. Wait for the Lord. Wait, because we are unable to find the needed strength, courage, and wisdom within ourselves. Wait, because God’s steadfast love and faithfulness endure forever.
On Wednesday evenings, we will be worshiping in a variety of places. Corresponding to our three-part vision of building and deepening relationships with God, each other, and our neighbor, our traditional Holden Evening Prayer with Communion is going to move around.
On December 6, we will be worshiping in the Fellowship Hall around tables. Earlier that night, as a congregation we will pack Comfort Meals and share a meal (starting at 6:00 p.m. and
ending with worship at 7:30 p.m.) Come, eat, serve, and worship as we build/deepen our
relationship with God.
On December 13, we will be worshiping in the Sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. In this familiar worship setting, we are reminded of each other and the important relationships that we build and deepen within the St. James community.
On December 20, we will be taking worship on the road to Cherrywood Pointe/Savage Senior
Living. As a congregation we will share a meal at 5:30pm and sing Christmas carols at 6:00pm with our neighbors who live in the senior living community. All are welcomed to take part in worship at 7:00 p.m. This will be among the first worship experiences for the community beyond our church walls.
All mid-week worship will be approximately thirty minutes in length and involve communion.
Mark your calendars for these unique experiences.
