In commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, Pastor Walt is writing a seven-week, devotional/blog series called, "From…To…" When Luther posted the 95 Theses on October 31, 1517, he desired to start a conversation of reform within the church over the practice of selling indulgences. The original intent was not to separate or split the church but to rather renew and give it a new shape so that it could more effectively communicate the gospel. In this spirit of reformation, each week, from his own perspective as a parish pastor, Pastor Walt will highlight a different aspect of our overall church life that could use reshaping. Though he writes from the perspective of serving a particular Lutheran church, his ideas and thoughts are directed to a larger audience. Although nowhere near as impressive as Luther's 95 suggestions, these seven suggestions are offered for reforming the church beyond but also including St. James. Pastor Walt offers this series in the original spirit of the Reformation to open dialogue and thinking with a desire to participate in God's renewal of the church.
